Senior Legal Advisor Role

About the Position
The Senior Legal Advisor will be responsible for ensuring the integrity of legal and risk practices, while also advising on regulatory obligations and governance matters.
Key Responsibilities:
* Act as the organisation's primary legal advisor, including on matters relating to its trustee company status.
* Provide strategic legal and risk advice to the CEO, Board and executives.
* Lead contract reviews, negotiations, and manage external legal relationships.
* Oversee legal compliance and advise on governance, risk and regulatory matters.
* Manage responses to legal or regulatory incidents and crises.
* Support the Company Secretary with governance counsel and reporting.
* Identify opportunities for thought leadership in law, policy and risk.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will have:
* Bachelor of Laws and a current (or eligible) Victorian practising certificate.
* 10+ years' post-qualification legal experience, ideally in-house, private practice, or a senior risk role.
* Demonstrated experience advising senior executives and Boards.
* Strong understanding of corporate governance, risk management and compliance in complex organisations.
* Experience with trustee companies, investment funds or financial services environments (desirable).
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to provide clear, culturally safe advice on complex issues.
* Collaborative leadership style, high emotional intelligence, and ability to influence diverse stakeholders.
