In this role, you will manage and supervise the technical operations of the Cultural Heritage node of Sydney Analytical and provide general expertise in portable vibrational spectroscopy and X-ray instruments. In collaboration with the Vibrational Spectroscopy Facility Manager, you will ensure that the instruments are well maintained and functioning as required, in compliance with the relevant Work, Health and Safety standards which are aligned to the University's WHS policy.Your key responsibilities will be to:manage the Cultural Heritage Node of Vibrational Spectroscopy within Sydney Analytical and ensure that the research and research training requirements are met effectivelymanage and maintain the portable instruments, and all accessories, associated with the cultural heritage node, ensuring equipment is compliant with relevant University and legislative requirementsprovide expert knowledge in the application of high-end portable and benchtop (vibrational spectroscopy and XRF) techniques and analysis applicable to Cultural Heritage Researchensure maintenance of Workplace Health and Safety records, as per the University's Workplace Health and Safety policy, ensuring that WHS matters requiring attention are addressed appropriatelyensure that reporting and documentation requirements are met for the portable instruments and experiments dealing with museum/cultural itemsfacilitate effective communication and good working relationships with cultural heritage stakeholders, and all researchers who use the portable and benchtop instrumentation.About youextensive expertise with a high knowledge and skill level in the operation of advanced vibrational spectroscopic equipment, software, data processing and analysisan understanding of cultural sensitivities and requirements of appropriate human ethics, government and institutional approvals for studies on museum and cultural itemscomputer skills, particularly with respect high-end chemometric analysisexcellent time and workload management skills with demonstrated ability to prioritise effectively, manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines and achieve required outcomeskeen attention to detail and awareness of issues related to dealing with commercially sensitive or confidential informationexperience with working in the Galleries, Libraries, Archives, and Museums sector or in working with heritage materials is requiredpossible job sharing opportunity.Sponsorship / work rights for AustraliaYou must have unrestricted work rights in Australia for the duration of this employment to apply.
