The Client:
T1 mining company with various pit dewatering operations across their mining operations in Western Australia. They are innovative and constantly seeking new ways and technologies to improve existing processes and decarbonise their assets.
They are seeking a suitably experienced water design engineer to assist with ongoing dewatering programs. This is a Perth-based role with occasional site visits, offered on an initial 5-month contract basis with potential for extension.
The Job:
The water design engineer (dewatering) will be responsible for delivering detailed design deliverables related to water infrastructure projects across the company's mine sites. The engineer will lead project design efforts, ensuring compliance with Australian and company standards in a safe and cost-effective manner.
Some of your duties will include:
1. Hydraulic modelling of pipelines, borefields, pump stations, ponds, tanks, etc.
2. Preparing and compiling technical deliverables, including construction drawings, quantity estimates, scope definitions, and liaising with stakeholders.
3. Facilitating project design reviews, including field inspections, stakeholder requirements, and conformity to design criteria.
4. Developing final engineering deliverables such as pipeline schematics, GA drawings, P&ID's, and selecting critical equipment.
5. Coordinating operational readiness requirements.
6. Providing construction support through technical queries and updates to design documentation.
7. Producing equipment data sheets and evaluating vendor proposals for budget and technical compliance.
8. Ensuring designs adhere to statutory regulations, project requirements, good practices, and procedural standards.
What you will need:
- Tertiary qualifications in Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience in piping systems and pipeline design, preferably within the mining industry or engineering consultancy.
- Understanding of discipline technology and interdisciplinary requirements.
- Knowledge of Australian and international standards and regulatory requirements in mining and water sectors.
- Ability to self-start and deliver on schedule and within budget.
- Proficiency in Visio, ArcGIS, or other GIS software.
