This role will support the Executive team and internal Operational Excellence sponsor in delivering HR Operations, BAU activity as well as a program that fosters/adopts a value led approach to people and culture. The company has operations in Australia and the US.
This is a role that will require a hands-on style with a bigger picture approach.
The HR Manager will lead the people strategy for a growing food manufacturing business, driving a high-performance, values-led culture grounded in Lean principles, continuous improvement, and operational excellence. This role is pivotal in enabling operational excellence, workforce engagement, leadership capability, and sustainable organisational change.
You will be both strategic and hands-on, embedding people systems that support operational performance, safety, quality, and growth, while leading cultural transformation aligned with Lean manufacturing behaviours.
Key Objectives

Key elements of the role include:Strategic HR Leadership
* Develop and execute the HR strategy aligned with business growth, operational excellence, and cultural transformation.
* Partner with executive and site leadership to embed people capability as a core business driver.
* Act as a trusted advisor on organisational design, workforce planning, and leadership development.
HR Operations, BAU & Compliance
* Ensure compliance with Australian employment legislation, awards, and WHS requirements.
* Oversee HR policies, procedures, and governance.
* Lead recruitment strategy for critical roles.
* Drive safety culture alignment in partnership with operations and HSE.
* Lead and support major organisational change initiatives, including restructures, process redesign, and cultural transformation programs.
* Drive the adoption of Lean and operational excellence principles and behaviours across leadership and frontline teams.
* Embed a continuous improvement mindset and learning culture across the organisation.
* Champion values-based leadership, accountability, and psychological safety.
Lean & Operational Excellence Enablement
* Align HR systems with Lean manufacturing principles.
* Support operational teams in:
o Standard work adoption
o Visual management
o Performance management rhythms
o Leader standard work
* Embed Lean leadership capability development at all levels.
People & Capability Development
* Design and implement leadership development programs aligned to Lean behaviours.
* Build robust succession planning and talent pipelines.
* Drive capability uplift across manufacturing, operations, and support functions.
* Develop coaching culture across leadership teams.
Required Experience & Capability
* Senior HR advisor/manager experience in manufacturing, FMCG, food production, or industrial environments.
* Proven experience leading large-scale organisational change.
* Experience working in Lean manufacturing environments.
* Exposure to Lean, 5S and Six Sigma Model principles or similar enterprise excellence frameworks.
* Leadership development program design and delivery.
* Industrial relations and enterprise bargaining experience (desirable).
* Strong understanding of Change management frameworks, Cultural transformation and HR governance and compliance.
* Values-driven, strong influencing capability with a background that has acted as a trusted advisor to executives.
* This role requires someone who - understands continuous improvement at a People & Culture level, believes culture drives performance and models Lean, CI and OE behaviours.
* This is a unique role supporting HR operations but underpinning a change process that is adopting Lean, CI and Six Sigma methodologies to drive and shape a high-performance manufacturing organisation.
