About the Role
The Chief Operating Office is seeking an experienced and motivated Commercial Manager to lead vital commercial operations for our client's Flood Recovery portfolio. In this senior-level position, you will oversee contracts, procurement, claims, and commercial analysis, ensuring effective project delivery and high-performing teams.
All applicants must have relevant Australian or NZ experience and have the right to work in Australia.
This is initially a 12‐month fixed term contract seconded to one of our clients' organizations based in Northern New South Wales, Australia, but may lead to a long-term role with a growing specialist engineering and project management consultancy based in Southeast Queensland managing major projects throughout Australia and New Zealand.
Key Responsibilities and Attributes

* Lead all commercial activities, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
* Manage contracts, procurement, and claims processes for the Flood Restoration team.
* Provide robust commercial analysis and advice to inform executive decision‐making.
* Foster collaboration with peers and stakeholders to deliver innovative, efficient services.
* Ensure financial and administrative compliance, including report writing and asset management.
* Represent the organization in contract negotiations and stakeholder discussions.
* Drive continuous improvement, innovation, and a customer‐focused approach across projects.
* Support a strong culture of safety, equity, ethics, and accountability.
* Mentor, motivate, and develop commercial team members.
* Manage workloads to meet tight deadlines in a high‐pressure environment.
Key Skills and Experience
* Proven experience in conflict resolution and high‐level negotiation.
* Advanced business planning, organisational, financial, and report writing skills.
* Ability to create and nurture an environment for innovative solutions to meet customer needs.
* Strong background in delivering exceptional customer service.
* Experience working collaboratively to achieve organisational objectives.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a cooperative team.
* Expertise in managing demanding workloads and tight deadlines.
* High computer literacy, including word processing, Excel, and client information management systems (Authority, Content Manager, BIS).
* Commitment to ethical decision‐making, transparency, and probity.
* Thorough understanding of equal employment opportunity and work health and safety principles.
Qualifications and Requirements
* Tertiary qualifications in Commerce, Procurement, Law, or equivalent experience.
* Postgraduate procurement qualifications are highly regarded.
* Membership in a relevant professional institute preferred.
* Current Class C Driver's Licence.
