Role Description/Criteria
Specialist Role Focus (P–6)
We are seeking a passionate and visionary educator to lead specialist learning that inspires students to see themselves as caretakers of creation, peacemakers, and global citizens.
This role weaves together Catholic Identity (embracing a faith-based understanding of caring for our common home and environmental sustainability), Indigenous Cultural Perspectives & Reconciliation, and Family Engagement.
You will create authentic learning opportunities that connect students to world and Indigenous events, traditions, and seasons, empowering them to grow in understanding, respect, and responsibility for both people and planet.
In partnership with colleagues, you will also design and facilitate events that enrich learning and celebrate culture, community, and faith, while ensuring strong practice in Child Safety & Volunteer Compliance.
What We’re Looking For
- Catholic Identity: A commitment to, and respect for, the Catholic identity of our school.
- Qualifications: Registration with VIT and accreditation to teach in a Catholic school, or a willingness to undertake accreditation.
- Collaboration & School Team Contribution: An ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and contribute positively to the wider school team.
- Differentiated Learning: A thorough understanding of differentiated and personalised learning approaches.
- Contemporary Practices: Demonstrated knowledge of innovative teaching strategies, particularly in engaging students through environmental and cultural perspectives.
- Indigenous & Sustainability Focus: Experience or interest in embedding Indigenous perspectives, reconciliation, and sustainability into curriculum and community life.
- Student Wellbeing: An understanding of wellbeing strategies to support learning and address specific student needs.
- Relationship Building: The ability to develop respectful, learning-centered relationships with children, families, and the broader community.
- Effective Communication: Strong communication skills to engage effectively with colleagues, parents/carers, and community members.
- Commitment to Growth: A willingness to engage in ongoing learning and constructive reflection.
- Tech Savvy: Experience in using digital tools for teaching and communication (Google Drive, Seesaw, etc.).
