Regional Development Officer
Based in Lajamanu, NT, we are seeking a Regional Development Officer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and facilitating football related programs that aim to improve education, social and employment outcomes for Indigenous people and communities.
This is an exciting opportunity to work in a remote Indigenous community and make a positive impact on the lives of young people. As a Regional Development Officer, you will be responsible for delivering community enhancement football themed programs designed to achieve lasting health, fitness and general wellbeing outcomes for the Lajamanu Community.
The Lajamanu Football Program has seen many successes in recent years, including an extensive school and Auskick program, and the support of the senior Men's program in the Big Rivers Football League. We are looking for someone who can build on these successes and continue to deliver high-quality programs to the community.
Key Responsibilities:
* To provide support to the Lajamanu Football league by scheduling for the season, player registrations, overseeing weekly football operations and supporting the administrative functions of the league
* To initiate and coordinate a female and junior football competitions in the community
* To recruit, train, mentor and manage part-time Development Officers
* To facilitate umpire and coaching training & accreditation- men & women
* To provide regular football themed programs to students in school, in consultation with the school
* To promote and increase school attendance outcomes through football related incentive programs and regular school engagement
* To assist in preparing students from the region to attend a 1-week residential education program at the Michael Long Learning and Leadership Centre (MLLLC), including attendance at the program with students
* To promote broad health and wellbeing messages in the region
* To develop players in the region to engage in talent opportunities through regional, state and national AFL pathways
* To support players to attend the Regional and Remote Michael Long Cup/s
* To provide training, development and national accreditation opportunities through AFL administration, coaching and umpiring courses
* To coordinate a player skill development for footballers from 5 years to senior football including; AFL Auskick – for male and females aged 5 to 9 years, AFL Juniors competition for children aged 10 - 16 years
Requirements:
* Ability to work autonomously, manage time effectively and meet deadlines
* Ability to process and deal with conflict as it may arise
* Valid NT working with children's card, or ability to obtain one prior to commencement in role
* Evidence of cross-cultural awareness
