We're excited to welcome a Clinical Coder to our Clinical Coding Service.
As a Clinical Coder you are a critical member of the Clinical Coding Service. You are responsible for ensuring the accurate assignment of codes from the ICD-10-AM and Australian Classification of Health Interventions (ACHI) and applying the Australian Coding Standards (ACS). Code assignment will occur after effective abstraction of relevant clinical information from patient medical records. As a Clinical Coder you will actively participate in quality and optimisation coding audits, undertake data quality activities as they apply to the inpatient dataset, and actively maintain your clinical and coding professional knowledge.
Clinical Coding Services sits within the Finance & Business Services portfolio at the Sunshine Coast Hospital & Health Service (SCHHS). This portfolio provides financial leadership, business advice, and strategic financial policy and governance to enable SCHHS to deliver quality and efficient health services to the community.
Sunshine Coast Health is in southeast Queensland and extends through the coastal and hinterland areas from Caloundra in the south and Gympie in the north.

Key Responsibilities include:
* Undertake clinical coding of Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service (SCHHS) inpatient episodes by applying current edition of International Classification of Diseases 10th Revision Australian Modification (ICD-10‑AM), Australian Classification of Health Interventions (ACHI) and Australian Coding Standards (ACS).
* Manage workload to achieve various local Health Service and State data and activity reporting deadlines.
* Contribute to the quality of the coding service by taking responsibility for personal development and awareness of updates in coding practice.
* Actively participating in Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service (SCHHS) auditing and education programs.
