Forensicare Health Information Manager
Location: Thomas Embling Hospital, Yarra Bend Road, Fairfield.
The Health Information Manager is based at Thomas Embling Hospital. The Health Information Manager is responsible for the operational management of the Health Information Service, managing a team of Administration staff, and ensuring an efficient, effective and timely Health Information Service across Forensicare.

About the Role
The Health Information Manager is based at Thomas Embling Hospital, and oversees the operational management of the Health Information Service, leading the team to ensure up-to-date, accessible and secure health information that meets organisational, Department of Health and other stakeholders' requirements.
Responsibilities
* Provide HIM leadership across Forensicare's programs to ensure available, accessible and secure health information that meets requirements of the organisation and stakeholders.
* Ensure proper training for staff in clinical documentation requirements, use of the electronic medical record, and CMI.
* Supervise and provide leadership to Health Information Officers within the team.
* Build strategic relationships with Forensicare's partners (e.g., Mental Health Tribunal, Department of Health, OCP, VAHI and Justice Health).
* Coding of consumer episodes across Forensicare in accordance with Australian and Victorian Coding Standards and data entry into the CMI system.
* Identify and undertake quality improvement activities for Health Information management.
About You / Qualifications
* Bachelor of Health Information Management or equivalent qualifications acceptable for membership of the Health Information Management Association of Australia.
* Experience managing and developing a Health Information Service Team.
* Coding experience with knowledge of Australian and Victorian Coding Standards and meeting coding deadlines.
* Experience with Rapid/CMI, Patient Administration Systems, Scanned or Electronic Health Records.
* Knowledge of relevant mental illness and criminal justice system legislation (Mental Health and Wellbeing Act 2022, Health Records Act 2001, Freedom of Information Act 1982).
