About the Role:

We are seeking a Senior/Principal Materials Engineer with experience in at least two of the following knowledge areas: welding engineering, materials engineering, and corrosion engineering. The ideal candidate should have at least 10 years experience and demonstrate a curiosity and passion for materials engineering and be eager to expand their expertise to encompass all knowledge areas, with training, mentorship and support from our experienced team. The right candidate will enjoy the diverse challenges unique to working at SEA Global, using the latest analytical techniques to produce detailed, informative and actionable outcomes for our clients.

Key Responsibilities:

* Technical Knowledge and Application:
* Provide technical support to projects in materials, corrosion, welding, and cathodic protection.
* Knowledgeable of corrosion threats and failure mechanisms of metallic materials (e.g. carbon steels, stainless steels and nickel alloys)
* Conduct materials selection activities, including modelling of corrosion rates.
* Produce material and welding specifications for pipes, forgings, valves, bends and other related components.
* Conduct cathodic protection design of subsea pipelines and structures.
* Provide materials support to procurement and review subcontractor procedures and documentation.
* Experience in computer programming (Python) would be beneficial. If no prior experience, then the candidate shall demonstrate an eagerness to learn.
* Leadership and Communication:
* Exhibit sound leadership skills across multiple projects and functions, both in the workplace and in other interests.
* Develop and maintain long-term business relationships through excellent technical knowledge and communication skills.
* Present complex ideas accessibly and engage in pragmatic problem-solving in materials engineering.
* Project Management and Collaboration:
* Collaborate with engineering teams, external specialists, and other stakeholders.
* Participate in evaluations and investigations, including authoring and review of technical reports and other documentation.

Skills and Experience:

* Qualifications:
* Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Metallurgical, Materials, Welding, or Corrosion Engineering.
* Additional certifications in welding, corrosion, cathodic protection, or related fields are desirable.
* Experience:
* Proven experience in materials engineering, welding engineering, and/or corrosion engineering.
* Experience with international standards and regulations related to materials and welding.
* Demonstrated ability in technical consulting, project management, and team leadership.
* Communication & Interpersonal Skills:
* Strong communication skills, articulate at all levels, internally and externally.
* Positive attitude, flexibility, and a professional approach.
* Demonstrates risk-focused and analytical decision-making skills.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $200,000.00 – $260,000.00 per year
