Hedland Senior High School (SHS), located in the Pilbara, is an Independent Public School catering for students from Year 7 to Year 12. The Role
We seek motivated applicants with an in‑depth understanding of the Western Australian Languages Curriculum and contemporary pedagogical practices to support the ongoing development of our languages program.
* A skill set in Japanese is highly regarded, however we are open to the delivery of other languages.
* Applicants should have knowledge in teaching the language, classroom teaching and high‑level speaking, reading and writing skills.

Teachers and School Administrators employed at Hedland Senior High School in 2026 are eligible for a temporary Attraction and Retention Incentive of $4,000 (pa, gross – pro‑rated for FTE and tenure). Eligible staff receive a percentage at commencement and the remainder at the end of the school year, provided they remain employed until the end of the year.
Mobility Appointments
Eligible permanent teachers who hold a substantive teaching position in a North or South Education Region school, or a South West Education Region school, may elect to undertake this role as a 3‑year mobility appointment with a right of return to their substantive position. At the conclusion of the 3‑year mobility appointment, teachers can elect to return to their substantive role, or transfer permanently to Hedland Senior High School.
* Note that South West teachers are not eligible to move to another South West school under this trial.

Eligibility
* Hold an eligible teacher qualification and registration.
* Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment.

* Consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education's Screening Unit before you start.
