Director of operations

Perth

Offer description

About Us The Last Great Hunt is an internationally renowned theatre company, creating original work on Whadjuk Noongar Boodja (Perth).
We are creators, innovators, and above all else, explorers.
With each new theatre experience, we hunt for new ideas and new ways of connecting with our expanding audiences across Australia and the world.
With our current Director of Operations taking a one-year secondment in **** to assist with capacity building in the arts sector, we are seeking someone with experience in at least two of these areas: arts management or arts administration (running programs, projects or teams), operations or organisational coordination (managing systems, processes or workflows), and finance, budgeting or project reconciliation (overseeing budgets, reporting or compliance) to work with us.
We recognise the under-representation of First Nations people, people with disability and BIPOC in the arts.
If you bring strong industry experience in at least two of these areas — arts management or arts administration, operations or organisational coordination or finance and budgeting — and have excellent attention to detail, we'd love to hear from you.
As an artist-led, non-hierarchical theatre company, we work in a collaborative circle structure.
The direction of the company is held by the Vision & Culture Circle, made up of all five Core Artists and the Core Operations team (Director of Operations and a Producer).
This circle shapes the company's direction, holds the big picture, and guides strategic thinking across all areas of our work.
Our other circles hold responsibility for compliance & governance, finance, people matters, marketing, prospecting (funding) and The Art (the work itself).
These circles mirror the way we create our work: collectively, transparently and with shared accountability.
About the Role Working across several circles, you'll drive operational functions, support budgeting and financial processes, oversee compliance and governance activities, and help synthesise group thinking as we prepare for the next multi-year funding cycle.
You'll work collaboratively with Hunters, with well-established (and deeply embedded) systems and policies, and the Hunters Almanac as your foundation.
This role suits someone who:
Enjoys working in a collaborative, values-driven environment
Is curious about other ways of approaching work/organisations
Helps translate collective thinking into practical steps and timelines, synthesising information and supporting the progression of strategic planning, policies and other organisational work
Has experience in arts administration, finance, and/or organisational operations
Is adaptable and able to navigate shifting timelines or priorities, bringing clarity, steadiness and a calm, solutions-focused approach
How We're Recruiting
With a different organisational structure comes a different approach to finding the right person.
Step 1: Book a 20 min call to chat about your interest and experience before Friday 12 December.
Step 2: The booking confirmation will request you to email your CV — please send it through before the scheduled call.
Step 3: Interviews will be scheduled for shortlisted applicants between Tuesday 16 and Thursday 18 December.
Take a look at our website and see what we are doing and how we are doing it:
Read through the PD and see whether your skills and instincts align with the way we Hunt and work together.
