We are looking for a passionate and hardworking **Development and Environmental Services Assistant** to join our team at Singleton Council. **THE ROLE**
Working within the Development and Environmental Services Support Team, the position provides specialist administrative support to the Environmental, Planning and Regulatory Team. The key responsibilities include:
- Provide efficient, courteous and high quality frontline customer service in a positive and professional manner.
- Maintain and resolve customer enquiries in accordance with Development and Environmental Services processes and procedures.
- Maintain, update and resolve customer enquiries under relevant Legislation, Policies and Guidelines.
- Calculate fee estimates, receive and process payments in relation to Council development and environmental services in accordance with relevant accounting standards, Council's current adopted Fees and Charges and Council's cash handling policies and procedures.
- Provide administration support to the Development and Environmental department, in relation to:
- Planning
- Regulatory
- Environmental Health
- Rangers
- Compliance
- Sustainability
**ESSENTIAL CRITERIA**
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Certificate IV Business Administration or similar
- Demonstrated extensive experience (minimum 5 year) in a fast pace administrative environment, and contemporary knowledge of administration functions.
- Demonstrated knowledge all relevant Acts, Regulation and Guidelines in relation to Planning and Regulatory.
- Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills including proven ability to communicate with a wide range of stakeholders to effectively liaise with internal/external customers in a professional and customer focused manner.
- Ability to interpret policies and procedures and the ability to recognise when to defer to other team members for clarification or escalation.
- Demonstrated ability to use initiative and discretion in carrying out tasks and upholding confidentialities.
- Demonstrated solid experience in the use of Microsoft Office, Corporate IT systems, Customer Request Systems and Records Management Systems including experience in the use of geographic information or land mapping systems.
This position is offered on a **temporary fulltime** basis for up to 12 months working **35** hours per week. Through Council's commitment to flexibility, part time hours would be considered for this position.
Remuneration for this position is based on **8** of the salary system which equates to a base salary between **$62,994.88 to $70,861.44** per annum plus superannuation.
