Hays is proud to partner with this council in the recruitment of a Risk and Compliance Manager to lead and enhance the Council's risk, audit, insurance, and business continuity functions. Your new role Reporting to the Manager - People and Culture, you will lead a small team and provide expert advice to the Executive Management Team, Audit and Risk Committee, and key stakeholders across Council. You will play a pivotal role in shaping the Council's risk culture and ensuring robust governance and compliance practices. Key Responsibilities: Leadership: Manage and develop the Risk and Assurance team, fostering a high-performance and inclusive culture. Risk Management: Oversee enterprise risk frameworks, advise risk owners, and ensure effective control monitoring and reporting. Audit & Assurance: Coordinate the internal audit program and manage the Audit Action Register. Insurance: Lead insurance renewals, claims management, and liaise with insurers and legal representatives. Business Continuity: Oversee Council's business continuity planning and response strategies. Reporting & Analysis : Deliver high-quality reports and insights to the Executive and Audit Committee. Policy & Compliance: Ensure policies are contemporary, compliant, and aligned with Council's strategic objectives. What you'll need to succeed You will bring a degree in risk management or a related discipline, along with significant experience in risk, audit, or insurance within a complex organisation. Your success will be supported by: Proven ability to lead and develop a team. Strong stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills. Experience managing internal audit programs and insurance portfolios. Excellent analytical, reporting, and communication skills. A strategic mindset with the ability to influence and drive change.
