Woods Transport is seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic / Heavy Vehicle Mechanic to join our Toowoomba workshop, maintaining a modern fleet of Kenworth prime movers and multi-combination trailers.
Woods Transport operates a fleet of Kenworth prime movers transporting containers, bulk stockfeed and tipper trailers. We have depots in Goondiwindi, Toowoomba and Brisbane, with operations across South East Queensland, Central Queensland and Northern NSW.
This role suits a practical, safety-focused mechanic who enjoys working on late-model heavy vehicles in a professional transport operation.
Key Responsibilities
· Service, maintenance and repair of Kenworth trucks
· Maintenance of multi-combination trailers (A-doubles, road trains)
· Maintenance of Large Container loaders
· Onsite maintenance of stationary engines and loader equipment at company feedlot.
· Engine, drivetrain, braking, suspension and hydraulic systems
· Fault finding, diagnostics and preventative maintenance
· Conduct inspections and repairs to meet NHVR and compliance standards
· Maintain accurate service and maintenance records
· Work safely and efficiently in a workshop environment
Skills & Experience
· Trade qualification as a Diesel Mechanic / Heavy Vehicle Mechanic
· Proven experience working on heavy vehicles
· Must have Australian work authorisation
· Experience with Kenworth and/or DAF highly regarded
· Experience with truck and trailer maintenance preferred
· Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills
· Commitment to safety and quality workmanship
· Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
· HR or HC licence (or willingness to obtain)
· Air Conditioning Certificate (desired but not required)
