The Process Engineer will be responsible for the design, development, optimisation, and management of chemical processes and projects.
The role will involve leading and supporting engineering studies, feasibility assessments, detailed design, and project execution across the chemical, minerals processing, and renewable energy sectors.
The successful candidate will apply advanced process engineering knowledge to deliver operational excellence and sustainable outcomes for Kemplant's clients.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Conduct process design, modelling, simulation, and optimisation for chemical and metallurgical plants.
Prepare process flow diagrams (PFDs), piping & instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), and process control philosophies.
Lead and contribute to engineering studies including prefeasibility, feasibility, FEED, and detailed design packages.
Perform process calculations, mass and energy balances, and equipment sizing.
Specify, design, and review chemical plant equipment including crystallizers, heat exchangers, filters, scrubbers, dryers, and storage tanks.
Manage and deliver EPC/EPCM projects, including procurement, manufacturing oversight, commissioning, and handover to clients.
Oversee plant upgrades and brownfield modifications, ensuring seamless integration with existing facilities.
Ensure strict compliance with safety, health, environmental, and statutory regulations.
Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and client liaison throughout project life cycles.
Prepare technical documentation, reports, cost estimates, schedules, and project proposals.
Maintain strong communication with clients, vendors, and multidisciplinary project teams.
Strong knowledge of process engineering, chemical plant design, and optimisation.
Proficiency in simulation and design software (Aspen Plus, HYSYS, AutoCAD, Microsoft Project, Visio).
Ability to manage multiple complex engineering projects simultaneously.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
Effective communicator with proven ability to liaise with diverse stakeholders.
High level of attention to detail and adherence to quality standards.
Strong understanding of EPC/EPCM project delivery methods.
Safety conscious with commitment to WHS regulations.
Qualifications
Master of Engineering (Chemical Engineering) or equivalent
