We operate four sections – Health Services, Corporate Services, Public Health Unit and Piliyintinji‑Ki Stronger Families – to provide a holistic approach to health and well‑being.

About The Tennant Creek Region

Year‑round blue skies, stunning landscapes and vibrant communities define Tennant Creek, a remarkable community with a major regional hospital, university, schools, shops, accommodation and more. It offers an excellent lifestyle for those willing to settle in a growing town.

Anyinginyi Health has been funded to support the implementation of recommendations from the Tennant Creek & Barkly Region report on Family Violence 2022. Working in partnership and collaboration with the Barkly Domestic, Family and Sexual Violence Reduction Network, the Project Coordinator will formalise a local focus group to discuss and inform services for those affected by family violence. The role will also lead a small team of DFSV community connectors to implement community awareness‑raising activities aligned with the Family Violence report 2022 recommendations and community priorities set by the network.

Key responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

- Undertaking community consultation to support implementation of recommendations from the Tennant Creek and Barkly Region Report on Family Violence.
- Investigating options for innovative coordination of family violence services, including a centralised site supporting streamlined access in a culturally safe space and increased service collaboration.
- Developing solutions that promote healing through trauma‑informed approaches, empowering community members with culturally safe, on‑country services and supports.
- Developing or implementing DFSV community awareness‑raising activities (including monitoring and evaluation mechanisms) to raise awareness of DFSV in the cultural context of Tennant Creek and the Barkly region.

Essential skills and experience:

- Tertiary qualification in the human services field and demonstrated experience delivering Domestic, Family and Sexual Violence services.
- Strong understanding of Domestic, Family and Sexual Violence in Central Australia and its impact on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island people.
- Experience working in Aboriginal community or health services, supporting culturally responsive, trauma‑informed programs and services.
- Highly developed interpersonal skills and ability to develop and maintain effective networks and relationships within Aboriginal communities.
- Experience in project and resource management, planning, coordination and implementation.
- High‑level communication skills and ability to provide strategic input.
- Leadership skills and ability to manage a team effectively.
- Strong ICT and writing skills, with a record of authoring performance reports, briefing papers and board reports.

Desirable:

- Experience and knowledge of the Tennant Creek and Barkly Region.
- Ability to speak a local language.

Important notes:

- Confirmation of employment is dependent on outcome of the successful application for an Ochre Card/Working with Children’s Card and a satisfactory criminal history check.
- All Anyinginyi Health employees must be fully vaccinated against COVID‑19.
- Anyinginyi Health provides child‑related services with obligations under the Commonwealth’s Child Safe Framework. All employees must fulfil obligations under the Care and Protection of Children Act (2007).

If you meet the above criteria and you’re interested in contributing to an organisation where you can really make a difference in our local community, we want to hear from you!
