Details: ACT Corrective Services is looking for a suitably qualified person to temporarily fill the role of Clinician/Occupational Therapist - Health Professional (HP1/HP2) within the Supports and Interventions Unit of the Offender Reintegration Unit. There are two roles available both temporary with the possibility of permanency.

Through sound knowledge of evidence-based practices and the principles of best practice intervention, the HP1/HP2 Clinician will support detainees who present with disability, ageing, mental health and other complex needs whilst in the justice system. The HP1/HP2 Clinician will engage with detainees using trauma informed practices to actively promote rehabilitation, community connections and reintegration.

An interest in rehabilitation, community connections, reintegration and the ability to operate effectively in a team, as well as having the capacity to deal with people from a wide range of cultures and backgrounds, is essential.

The successful applicant will support the planning, development and evaluation of client programs and services, including policy and procedures, in collaboration with relevant stakeholders. This includes supporting research and promoting current evidence-based practice in the areas relevant to clinical expertise – particularly mental health and offence specific interventions.

Further to this, the successful applicant will have demonstrated clinical experience, personal integrity, self-confidence and exceptional communication skills. Applicants applying for the HP2 role must have a minimum of 12 months paid work employment, post qualification, in a relevant role. Applicants applying for the HP1 role may be recent graduates with less than 12 months paid employment, post qualification in relevant role.

Eligibility/Other requirements:

* Relevant qualification/s in Social Work/ Occupational Therapy/ Psychology/ Counselling are essential.
* Eligibility for professional membership or demonstrated eligibility for professional membership of a relevant governing professional body is required.
* Applicants applying for the HP2 role must have a minimum of 12 months paid work employment, post qualification, in a relevant role.
* Applicants applying for the HP1 role may be recent graduates with less than 12 months paid employment, post qualification in relevant role.
* Experience in individual Social Work/ Occupational Therapy/ Psychology/ Counselling roles with a wide range of clients with identified needs is desirable.
* Experience within a forensic/custodial setting is desirable.
* This position requires a Police Record Check.
* A current driver's licence (Class 'C' is essential).
* This position requires a pre-employment medical.
* This position requires Working with Vulnerable People registration.
* To be eligible for permanent or temporary employment within the ACT Public Service (ACTPS) you must be an Australian citizen, a permanent resident or hold a valid work visa.
* If an officer no longer holds a visa that permits them to work in Australia, their employment with the ACT Public Service (ACTPS) will be terminated.

Notes: There are two temporary full-time positions available. One is available immediately until August 2026 and one is available immediately until January 2027, both with the possibility of permanency.

These positions will be filled at either the HP1 or HP2 level, dependent on the skills and experience of the successful applicant.

An order of merit will be established from this selection process and may be used to fill future identical vacancies over the next 12 months.

Opportunities for flexible working options could include hybrid working, being a combination of working from home, designated office based and FlexiSpace working locations across the ACT, part-time hours, job-sharing, flexible start, and finish times.
