OPPORTUNITY


Viva Leisure (ASX-listed, award-winning, and Australia's second-largest health and fitness operator) is seeking an experienced IT Systems Administrator to manage and maintain our IT infrastructure, ensuring operational excellence and supporting future growth.

This role requires a strong technical foundation along with leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills. Working closely with the CTO and CEO, the Systems Administrator plays a vital role in aligning IT systems with business growth and innovation priorities while ensuring stability, reliability, and seamless service delivery. Acting as the escalation point for complex technical issues, the administrator works with internal IT teams and external partners to deliver timely resolutions, while also contributing to the definition and execution of IT strategies that balance immediate operational needs with forward-looking innovation.

In addition to operational responsibilities, the IT Systems Administrator leads strategic projects such as system upgrades, migrations, and integrations, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations. The role also involves evaluating and implementing new technologies that enhance scalability, productivity, and security, as well as developing processes, documentation, and training resources to strengthen IT efficiency and the user experience. By providing transparent reporting on system performance, risks, and opportunities to senior leadership, and supporting staff across varying levels of technical proficiency, the administrator ensures operational excellence, continuous improvement, and trust in IT operations across the organisation.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES


Technical Support and Issue Resolution

* Lead the resolution of escalated ICT issues, ensuring prompt and effective outcomes across systems and networks.
* Investigate complex technical problems including Linux environments and network services, maintaining robust and scalable solutions.
* Provide staff with training and guidance on issue resolution best practices, raising organisational technical capability.

Policies, Procedures, and Compliance

* Develop and implement policies, procedures, and guidelines that support efficient and secure IT Operations.
* Conduct process mapping to identify improvement opportunities and streamline workflows.
* Maintain and review IT policies regularly to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and industry best practices

Systems Management and Optimisation

* Plan, execute, and manage system and infrastructure upgrades, ensuring scalability and alignment with organisational growth.
* Proactively identify and resolve IT system issues in Linux servers and workstations, network services, and enterprise infrastructure, optimising performance and reliability.
* Ensure high availability, fault tolerance, and operational resilience across critical IT systems

Strategic IT Planning

* Develop forward-looking infrastructure and network strategies that integrate emerging technologies and business objectives.
* Conduct IT business mapping exercises to support continuous improvement and guide system implementation initiatives.
* Provide training and development opportunities to staff, enhancing IT resource utilisation and Linux system proficiency.
* Manage IT tender processes, ensuring alignment with compliance, security, and procurement requirements.

Project Collaboration and Innovation

* Collaborate with the CEO, CTO, and Head of IT to align system initiatives with strategic business priorities.
* Contribute to the planning and delivery of IT projects and the development of innovative solutions to support organisational growth.
* Champion the adoption of innovative technologies and solutions to drive organisational growth and long-term IT resilience.


SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE


We are looking for someone with:

* Mandatory: Advanced hands-on experience in Linux-based environments (system administration, configuration, security hardening, patch management).
* Mandatory: Strong expertise in IT networking (LAN/WAN, routing, switching, firewalls, VPNs, load balancing).
* Proven ability to design, implement, and maintain enterprise IT infrastructure including servers, storage, virtualization, and cloud systems.
* Strong background in IT security principles, including network security, access controls, monitoring, and compliance frameworks.
* Experience planning and executing system upgrades, migrations, and integrations with minimal disruption.
* Proficiency in automation, scripting, and monitoring tools to streamline IT operations and optimise system performance.
* Demonstrated capability in incident response and troubleshooting of complex infrastructure issues under time-sensitive conditions.
* Familiarity with IT governance, compliance, and policy frameworks including procurement and tender management.
* Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical staff.
* Strong leadership, mentoring, and vendor management experience to drive accountability and service excellence.

Qualifications

* Relevant tertiary education in IT, Systems, and/or IT Security, or equivalent practical experience
* Driver's Licence – desirable but not essential
