To ensure the accurate and timely preparation, reconciliation, and execution of payroll for all AAML employees and Board members, in compliance with relevant regulations and company policies.
This role includes ensuring timely and accurate payments of wages, taxes, superannuation, and handling end-of-year financial reporting, including compliance with ATO requirements such as Single Touch Payroll.
Key Accountabilities Payroll Processing & Compliance
* Prepare and complete the fortnightly and monthly payroll, including job costing and payment of overtime and allowances recorded in timesheets in accordance with Airport Employees Award.
* Prepare and submit payroll analysis to management for fortnightly and monthly payroll cycles, ensuring thorough and critical analysis with sufficient supporting documentation.
* Maintain and update the payroll system, including testing and implementing changes as required.
* Process payroll deductions, PAYG, ReturnTo WorkSA, and Payroll Tax returns in compliance with deadlines.
* Maintain and reconcile superannuation contributions for all employees.
* Prepare and manage all payroll-related payments and lodgement deadlines in an organised manner, ensuring management is informed of upcoming responsibilities
* Ensure appropriate record-keeping including employee leave records, salary history in line with National Privacy Legislations.
* Calculate entitlement and termination payments as requested.
* Manage payroll-related claims, including compensation payments and reimbursements.
* Prepare and produce end-of-year payroll reports and reconciliations for audit purposes, including input new pay rates and reconciliation with the approved payroll budget.
* Process and reconcile payroll-related accounts in the ERP system.
* Ensure appropriate integration and data flow between the HR system and the payroll system.
* Liaise with employees and management on payroll-related queries, ensuring high levels of customer service.
* Ensure compliance with all Company Policies and Procedures, contributing to the development and refinement of these policies as needed.
Process Improvement & Automation
* Provide input to project and process improvement teams to streamline and automate payroll processes, including the implementation of new systems for time sheeting, rostering, and job costing.
* Stay updated on payroll-related software developments and regulatory changes, ensuring payroll practices remain compliant and efficient.
Monthly Reporting
* Processing of end of month payroll related journals and accruals in accordance with end of month timelines
* Reconciliation of payroll related balance sheet and profit and loss accounts
* Contribute to the monthly Finance and People, Culture & Customer reports by providing accurate payroll data, including analysis of wage costs, overtime, and staff-related metrics.
* Ensure all relevant payroll metrics are reported in a timely manner to support business decision-making and workforce planning.
Data Security & Confidentiality
* Ensure the security and confidentiality of payroll data, adhering to data protection regulations and company policies.
Change Management & Training
* Support change management efforts related to payroll system transitions, ensuring minimal disruption during system upgrades and smooth adaptation to new processes.
* Assist in the provision of training and support to employees and management on the use of new payroll, time sheeting, and rostering systems.
Cross-Departmental Collaboration
* Liaise with the HR Team on the interpretation of awards/agreements and contracts related to payroll.
* Collaborate with the HR team to ensure accurate onboarding and offboarding processes
General
* Show a commitment to the performance review process by determining objectives that align to business unit and company wide goals, where possible incorporate process improvement objectives
* Identify areas for training to ensure knowledge is up to date to perform the duties and responsibilities of this role

Qualifications/Skills/Experience QUALIFICATIONS
Desirable
Formal qualification in a related discipline
EXPERIENCE
Essential
* End to end payroll experience
* Demonstrated track records and experience in a similar role
* Microsoft Excel/Word/PowerPoint
Desirable
* Knowledge of Sage and Micropay payroll systems.
* Some accounting training.
