TAFE Higher Education Academic Council Independent Member
TAFE NSW's purpose is to advance the Government's social and economic objectives by delivering vocational education and training to build the skills base of the State and enable rewarding career opportunities for NSW residents. As the core public provider, TAFE NSW has a community service obligation to increase equitable access to lifelong education and training.
About the role
The TAFE NSW Higher Education Academic Council (HEAC) is accountable for providing assurance that the organisation's higher education operations are operating effectively and sustainably, and for ensuring clear links between higher education academic governance and corporate governance at TAFE NSW.
There are currently three opportunities available for independent membership on the HEAC, and a vacancy for the Chair. Independent members will be appointed for a three-year term and will receive remuneration for attendance at four meetings per year and associated preparation.
About you
Experience in higher education is essential to this role, with a preference for experience in dual sector providers (VET/Higher Education). We are looking for candidates who also have experience in the following areas:
* academic governance and risk management
* higher education quality improvement and compliance, and
* the Higher Education Standards Framework (Threshold Standards) 2021.
Members of the Board are remunerated $1000 per meeting, with 4 meetings expected each year.
The HEAC Chair is remunerated $1750 per meeting.
