$55-$5/hr + super | Flexible AM shifts | WA Health
Screen & educate kids aged 0-4 | Preventive education public health role | Team-supported sessions | Perth metro + travel to regional WA
About the role
Many OHT's/DT's begin their careers driven by the desire to make a real difference in people's lives, to help children develop healthy habits early and prevent oral disease before it starts. Over time, the demands of private practice, quotas, billing targets, back-to-back patients, can make it easy to lose sight of this original purpose.
This role offers the chance to reconnect with why you started: to focus purely on prevention, education, and community impact. It's a unique opportunity to balance working in both public and private sectors, allowing you to gain broad experience and variety in your career. You can take this on alongside your current role, offering flexible morning shifts that fit around your schedule, or you can dive in and just focus on this role.
As part of WA Health's Early Childhood Oral Health Program, you'll visit community centres, libraries, and playgroups to conduct oral screenings, fluoride applications, and deliver tailored health education to children aged 0-4 and their families. You'll provide care outside the traditional clinic environment, engaging directly with parents and carers to promote lifelong healthy habits in a supportive, community-focused setting.
You will never be working alone - each session includes a Dental Assistant, and you will always travel and work in pairs for safety and support. Full training and orientation are provided before you begin.
