About the role
As a Contracts & Compliance Adviser, you'll provide practical, solutions-focused advice to HIA members across a broad range of compliance matters. You'll gain exposure to real-world issues faced by builders, designers and contractors and help them operate confidently and compliantly.
This role suits someone who enjoys applying legal or compliance knowledge in a practical, people-focused environment.
What you'll be doing
* Advising members by phone and email on:
* employment and industrial relations
* building contracts and administration
* work health and safety
* builder registration and licensing
* Gaining exposure to a wide range of compliance issues across the residential building industry
* Developing practical resources to guide builders and subcontractors to understand their contracts and compliance obligations
* Supporting and engaging with members through committees, meetings and events
* Assisting with training sessions and presentations on key business compliance topics
* Working alongside experienced professionals on policy and advocacy initiatives
What we're looking for
* A genuine interest in helping people and small businesses
* Strong research and communication skills, and practical problem‐solving ability
* The ability to communicate complex advice clearly and pragmatically, adapting to a diverse range of stakeholders
* Ability to work independently and as part of a geographically dispersed team
* Tertiary qualification in legal, industrial relations, construction, or a related discipline.
* A current legal practising certificate, or ability to obtain one (desirable, not essential)
* Knowledge of workplace relations law and/or construction law (desirable, not essential)
