**About the Role**
The Community and City Services Division is dedicated to building a healthy, vibrant and inclusive Melbourne.
Our Libraries, Recreation and Waterways Branch provides inclusive spaces and programs that inspire active, creative and connected communities.

We are seeking a proactive and customer-focused Concierge to join our concierge team. This role plays a vital part in ensuring a welcoming and safe environment for all visitors to the City of Melbourne Libraries.
Under the guidance of the Concierge Team Leader, you will provide high-quality front-line service, responding to directional and informational enquiries, and supporting users in accessing our spaces and services.
You'll also play a key role in maintaining safety and security across library sites—observing activity, proactively engaging with patrons, assessing potential risks, and actioning appropriate safety protocols.
In addition, the role supports facilities management and the smooth operation of library venues, including managing room and space bookings.

We're seeking someone who can deliver outstanding customer experience while confidently managing safety and security responsibilities.
This role requires strong emotional maturity, sound critical thinking, and excellent interpersonal skills to create a welcoming and secure environment for all.
**This is a permanent part time, 17.5 hours per week role however we do require someone that is able to work additional rostered overtime shifts over weekends as the libraries are open 7 days a week.**
**What you will bring to the Role**
The position will require:
- Appropriate qualifications such as Certificate III in Security Operations or equivalent, and/or two years of relevant experience.
- Hold and maintain a valid Victorian Private Security Licence, or willingness to obtain one.
- Highly developed written and oral communication skills, excellent telephone manner and ability to listen effectively, and excellent interpersonal skills when dealing with internal and external customers.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities within a high-volume environment.
- Proven ability to de-escalate challenging situations through verbal and nonverbal cues.
- Knowledge and experience working with Health and Safety, OHS and building management systems.
- Desirable - experience in security services, social or human services.
