Purpose of the Role
To support the Group Quality Assurance Manager and QA team in maintaining and improving the company's Quality Assurance and Food Safety Management Systems, Quality Culture and Continuous Improvement.
In conjunction with your previous experience in quality assurance, this trainee position offers continued mentoring, hands-on experience, and exposure to DAFF, export market, and third-party accreditation requirements (e.g., AUS-MEAT, HACCP, BRC) to develop your skills to progress to our site QA Manager.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with the implementation, monitoring, and review of Quality Assurance and Food Safety programs (HACCP, GMP, BRC, Aus-Meat).
Support daily QA checks, verifications, and documentation control tasks.
Learn to interpret, apply and implement export, domestic, and customer-specific requirements.
Assist in preparing for audits from regulatory bodies, third parties and customers.
Contribute in developing and maintaining QA procedures, forms, and training records.
Help investigate non-conformances, gather information for root cause analysis, and track corrective/preventive actions.
Liaise with DAFF officers, auditors, and production teams under supervision.
Conduct product sampling, inspections, and verification activities as trained.
Support the QA team in promoting food safety awareness across the site.
Perform Internal Auditing as Required.
Participate in ongoing training to build capability toward independently managing QA functions.
Skills and Experience Required
Understanding of HACCP principles and food safety fundamentals (training provided).
Strong attention to detail, organisation skills, and a willingness to learn.
Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and production teams.
A positive attitude, strong work ethic, and interest in developing a career in Quality Assurance.
Previous experience in food manufacturing or meat processing (desirable but not essential).
