This role The Payroll Officer will oversee Employment Hero’s internal and global teams’ payroll across multiple geographies, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant payroll processing on an international scale. Reporting to the Head of Financial Accounting & Reporting and as part of the Finance team, this role is the trusted subject matter expert on payroll operations, partnering with internal teams and external providers to ensure accurate and timely pay in line with local regulations.
Responsibilities
- Prepare payrolls and coordinate with outsourced payroll providers for various regions; collaborate with stakeholders across the business in different regions
- Work with accounting and compliance teams to ensure payroll journals and filings are processed accurately and on time
- Prepare payroll reports and analysis for internal and global employees (AU, NZ, UK)
- Review pay runs/invoices with outsourced providers and EORs
- Navigate payroll processes across countries; resolve issues and discrepancies
- Review WFH expenses and process claims/reimbursements
- Ensure timely payroll filings and obligations (e.g., PAYG/PAYE, payroll tax, super, workers compensation insurance renewals)
- Serve as primary Finance contact for payroll matters with the business and external vendors
- Prepare monthly payroll reconciliations and assist with cashflow forecasting related to payroll
- Assist with external audits and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy of the global payroll review process
- Stay updated on changes in payroll legislation and best practices
Who you are / Qualifications
- 4+ years of experience in a payroll role
- KeyPay (Employment Hero Payroll) system experience essential
- Experience running payroll in Australia and New Zealand is essential
- Experience running payroll in the UK and other regions (e.g., Southeast Asia) is advantageous
- Intermediate to advanced Excel/Google Sheets
- Data-driven, autonomous, with strong planning and organizational skills
- Proven payroll experience in a high-volume environment
- Strong communication and stakeholder management with varying levels of payroll/finance knowledge
- Ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision and strong decision-making/problem-solving skills
- Ability to adapt to urgent or unforeseen circumstances
