Job duties:
* Prepare, cook, and present food in accordance with recipes and menu requirements
* Set up and maintain kitchen workstations and operate kitchen equipment safely
* Measure, weigh, and prepare ingredients
* Cook food using a variety of methods including baking, grilling, steaming, and boiling
* Prepare multiple meals and food items efficiently during busy service periods
* Pack and prepare food orders for counter sales and online orders
* Serve customers during recess and lunch service
* Maintain high standards of food hygiene, cleanliness, and workplace safety
* Clean kitchen equipment, benches, and food preparation areas
* Monitor stock levels and assist with stock ordering and inventory control
* Follow all school canteen policies and food safety procedures
* Work collaboratively with the canteen team to ensure efficient daily operations
* Keep up to date with cooking methods and food preparation techniques
Skills and Experience
* Previous experience working as a cook or in a commercial kitchen preferred
* Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
* Strong teamwork and communication skills
* Knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices
* Good time management and organisational skills
* Ability to multitask and follow instructions carefully
Requirements
* Food Handling Certificate (preferred)
* Ability to work during school canteen operating hours
* Current Working With Children Check (or willingness to obtain) may be required
