The successful applicant will be required to provide consultation and provision of care to patients who require complex interventional procedures in the Maternal and Fetal Medicine Unit. In addition, he/she will assist MFM consultants and supervise fellows in the training of these fetal interventional procedures. Other duties include involvement in research, administrative and departmental tasks as requested by the Head of Department.
The Westmead Institute for Maternal and Fetal Medicine (WIMFM) provides support and care for women and families with a complex pregnancy. Pregnancy is an exciting time for families however a complex pregnancy is potentially a challenging journey. Our role is to support and inform women through this process to enable them to make the best decisions for themselves and their baby.
Westmead Institute for Maternal and Fetal Medicine (WIMFM) is a diagnostic and management service with an experienced team of Sonographers and Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM) specialists. We work closely with the Children's Hospital at Westmead in caring for women whose babies may require surgery after birth. Women and families can be referred from anywhere within NSW and overseas for specialized care at WIMFM. For women living in the Western Sydney Local health District (WSLHD) we provide and review management plans for complex pregnancies as well as diagnostic procedures in pregnancy i.e. amniocentesis, chorionic villus sampling, fetal shunts and fetal blood transfusions.
This appointment is for the remainder of the current Quinquennium, until 30 June 2027.
Selection Criteria
* Possess registration with the Medical Board of Australia and Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RANZCOG) or equivalent as provided for in the Staff Specialists (State) Award. Must have Australian Citizenship or Permanent Australian Residency.
* Evidence of additional qualifications, skills and/or experience required for specific scope of practice for the specialty commitment to self-care and personal development.
* Demonstrated skills and attitudes appropriate for practice as a Senior Medical Practitioner including:
o Proven ability to work effectively and harmoniously with medical and other health services colleagues as part of a multi-disciplinary health care team.
o Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with patients and colleagues.
o Excellent organizational, supervision and collaboration skills with demonstrated ability to build respectful relationships.
o Maintaining and developing knowledge, skills and professional performance to the level required for contemporary practice.

* Demonstrated ability to manage time and resources efficiently and contributing to the effectiveness and efficiency of the health care system.
