About the Role
As the Curator and Visual Arts Coordinator, you will:
* Curate and deliver engaging visual arts exhibitions and public programs across Council-managed galleries and spaces.
* Lead and support the Curatorial Arts Administration Assistant and a team of casual staff.
* Manage the operations, scheduling and activation of Council art spaces to ensure diverse, high-quality artistic outcomes.
* Lead key visual arts initiatives and projects, including prizes, public art programs and artist studio operations.
* Develop and drive the marketing strategy for Council's Visual Arts business unit managing and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.
* Build strong relationships with artists, partners and stakeholders while providing expert curatorial and industry advice.
* Identify and secure funding by researching Federal and State grants and managing the full grant lifecycle for the Arts & Culture Business Unit
* Monitor budgets and ensure arts programs meet financial targets.
What You'll Bring:
* Experience in curating, designing and installing exhibitions in art spaces.
* Skilled in public art acquisition and activating community spaces through art.
* Demonstrated understanding of community cultural development.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office, Photoshop, and arts database systems.
* Excellent organisational, interpersonal, and financial management skills.
* Demonstrated ability to deliver arts-based projects including festivals and art prizes.
* Demonstrated ability to supervise a small team.
* Degree in curatorship, museum studies and/or arts administration, or significant relevant experience.
* Current Class C Driver's License.
