Position Overview

GoTab is looking for a highly-motivated, self-driven Networking and Deployment Engineer to join our growing team in Australia. This is a hands-on role where you will engage directly in planning and executing the deployment of GoTab point of sale platform at hospitality venues, both in-person and remotely. This is a client-facing role that requires excellent communication and planning skills, along with strong adherence to process and a commitment to client success.

Networking and Deployment Engineer

, you will be responsible for site reviews with clients to analyse and document existing infrastructure and any gaps, as well as making recommendations for remediation, specifically in regard to wired and wireless networking connectivity. You will collaborate with GoTab colleagues to plan and execute the installation and post-installation validation of our platform. Additionally, you will set up monitoring and alerting of critical metrics to ensure optimal operations, and to proactively detect and neutralize arising issues. You will also assist your local GoTab colleagues, the company's remote support personnel and our clients' technical representatives in troubleshooting and outage management. In short, you will be a consultant whose recommendations must be based on a desire to deliver the best possible outcome for clients.

The role is primarily Hybrid but you will be asked to travel to customer sites from time to time. As travel is a key part of the job requirement, you will be responsible for having personal transportation.

Key Responsibilities

* Strong understanding of IP networking (both wired and wireless), preferably with Ubiquiti hardware and management software
* Familiarity with Linux environment and command line utilities, including connecting to remote devices over SSH and SFTP. Previous usage of IoT or low-power computing devices such as Raspberry Pi, Arduino or BeagleBone is a plus
* Knowledge of Vim, Emacs, Nano or another command line text editors
* Familiarity with use, programming and/or administration of common point of sale systems such as Lightspeed, Toast, Micros, POSitouch, Aloha, Simphony, Breadcrumb, or others
* Familiarity with Android hardware and MDM concepts
* Strong sense of responsibility and initiative
* "Can do" attitude with respect to creatively sourcing, assembling and distributing hardware to customers under tight and sometimes unpredictable timelines
* Problem solver and can think quickly on your feet
* Must project a professional and presentable demeanor, as you will be a representative face of the company to customers
