Your Opportunity
Driven by the needs of people living with disability and our local communities, the Community Engagement Facilitator (CEF) role exists to facilitate and coordinate community engagement and build capacity within the community and the broader service system. You will be responsible for engaging stakeholders both internally and externally to identify, analyse, and report on barriers to access and inclusion, and supporting people with disability to have their voice heard, and act as key decision makers to address these barriers. You will also coordinate and facilitate of all aspects of Mission Australia’s Community Capacity Building and Engagement & Awareness Plans and will work alongside Local Area Coordinators to achieve goals of community inclusion and accessibility. You will build on existing business strengths to design and implement solutions to strengthen our local communities.
Your Key Responsibilities
* Identify key community groups, service providers and sectors that should be targeted for community engagement and capacity building activities
* Implement project management skills to manage and co-ordinate activities aligned to the Community Capacity Building and Community Engagement & Awareness plans
* Build capacity and connections to the community to offer opportunities for children, and culturally and linguistically diverse people to increasingly participate in the local community
* Map Mission Australia’s service contribution to improving access and inclusion throughout the project implementation
* Record the measurements of community wellbeing, and the impact of the capacity building plan over time in an accurate and timely manner
* Understanding of the CALD and Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander communities and their barriers
Requirements for Success
With a significant background in Community Development, and/or Disability, and/or Community Services sectors, you will be confident in your case management and assessment processes. Other requirements include:
* Hold a qualification in Allied Health, Social Work, Disability, Community Services or Community Development or equivalent
* Posses strong local knowledge of the Victor Harbor, Fleurieu & Kangaroo Island regions
* Have a sound understanding of the community services sector, including in the delivery of services where deep, concentrated and persistent disadvantage exists
* Experience in implementing Community Development approaches and data analysis and research skills is desirable
* Proven ability to execute high levels of reporting and ability to identify inaccuracy in data
* Ability to embed yourself into teams to work effectively and also have the ability to work autonomously
* Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, LGBTIQA+ and CALD communities.
* Must have Full driver licence with no restrictions
