Role Purpose
The Design Engineer – CAD & Visualisation is responsible for producing high-quality 3D CAD models and visual renders of vehicle fit-outs to support customer presentations, sales proposals, and internal concept development.
This role bridges customer intent and engineering reality, translating requirements into accurate, visually compelling designs using SolidWorks and KeyShot. While the role is design-led, it sits within the engineering function and supports downstream production through clear, build-ready concepts.

Key Responsibilities
CAD Design & Visualisation
* Develop 3D CAD models of vehicle fit-outs using SolidWorks
* Produce high-quality rendered visuals using KeyShot for:
* Customer presentations
* Sales proposals
* Internal concept reviews
* Interpret customer briefs and translate them into practical, buildable concepts
* Develop multiple concept options where required
Customer & Sales Support
* Collaborate with Sales and Design teams to support tender responses and proposals
* Update and refine designs based on customer feedback
* Ensure visual designs align with Vquip's product range, capabilities, and brand standards
Engineering & Production Alignment
* Ensure designs are realistic, manufacturable, and compliant with Vquip standards
* Liaise with engineers, fitters, and production teams to validate concepts
* Gradually contribute to:
* Shop drawings
* Assembly concepts
* Fitment considerations
Continuous Improvement
* Maintain and develop a library of standard components and assemblies
* Contribute to improved design templates and workflows
* Stay current with SolidWorks and KeyShot best practices

* High-quality, professional CAD renders delivered on time
* Positive feedback from Sales and customers on clarity and presentation
* Designs that transition smoothly into engineering and production

Skills & Experience
Essential
* Experience using SolidWorks for 3D CAD modelling
* Experience using KeyShot (or similar rendering software)
* Strong visual and spatial awareness
* Ability to interpret briefs and ask clarifying questions
* Good written and verbal communication skills
* Willingness to accept feedback and apply it constructively
* Ability to work within schedules and meet pre-set deadlines
Desirable
* Experience in vehicle fit-outs, fabrication, or manufacturing environments
* Understanding of sheet metal, fasteners, and assemblies
* Exposure to workshop or hands-on fitting environments
* Experience supporting sales or customer-facing design work
Qualifications
* Bachelor of Engineering, Industrial Design, or similar (desirable but not mandatory)
* Equivalent practical experience will be highly valued
