The Spinal Research Institute (SRI) is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to improving the lives of people with spinal cord injury (SCI) through research collaboration, knowledge sharing, and consumer engagement. SRI connects researchers, clinicians, and the SCI community nationally and internationally to accelerate discoveries that create real-world impact.
About the Role
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the CEO provides strategic and operational leadership to deliver SRI’s mission and vision. You will lead a small, dedicated team and work with a passionate Board to strengthen partnerships, enhance organisational sustainability, and elevate SRI’s national and global profile.
Key Responsibilities
* Championing the organisation’s mission and executing the strategic plan
* Building and maintaining strong stakeholder relationships across research, clinical, and community sectors
* Leading organisational growth, fundraising, and revenue diversification
* Overseeing governance, risk, compliance, and financial management
* Managing and inspiring a talented team of part-time staff
* Representing SRI at conferences, events, and within the SCI community
About You
You are a strategic, values-driven leader who thrives in purpose-led environments. You have the vision to drive growth and the empathy to lead with authenticity.
What You Will Bring
* Proven experience as a CEO, COO, or GM in the NFP, health, or disability sectors
* Strong understanding of ACNC governance and NFP compliance
* Financial, strategic, and operational leadership skills
* Exceptional communication and relationship-building abilities
* Demonstrated success in partnership development and fundraising
* A collaborative, inclusive, and resilient leadership style
Desirable
* Familiarity with the medical research or disability sector
* Experience working with diverse stakeholders, including researchers, clinicians, and funders
* Relevant tertiary qualifications in business, health, or related fields
