Job Title
As an Education Support Specialist, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality education programs to students with special needs.
Key Responsibilities
* Collaborate with teachers to implement individualized or small group education plans that align with school priorities and approved strategies.
* Support students with health and wellbeing needs, ensuring their comfort and safety within the classroom environment.
* Contribute to a dynamic team culture that fosters student learning and program delivery.
* Communicate effectively with students, families, and teaching professionals to ensure seamless program implementation.
* Assist with the provision of educational programs for students with special needs, occupational therapy, and physiotherapy services as required.
Requirements
* You must be a citizen, permanent resident, or hold a valid visa with relevant work rights for the appointment term.
* A valid Working With Children Check is mandatory prior to commencing, along with consent for a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education's Screening Unit.
Essential Skills and Qualifications
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience in interacting with students with special needs, parents, and teaching professionals.
* Proven interpersonal skills, including teamwork in evaluating educational programs, including special education and therapy programs where implemented.
* Strong organizational abilities to deliver and develop effective education programs for students and provide feedback to teaching professionals or psychologists.
* Ability to assist teachers or therapists in implementing educational programs, including special education and occupational and/or physiotherapy programs if required.
* Familiarity with health and physical disabilities in students and adolescents.
