About QBuild
QBuild is a commercialised business unit of the Queensland Government. It has been Queensland Government's builder for over 160 years, playing an important role in communities across the state by building and maintaining government-owned assets such as schools, social housing, police stations and correctional and health facilities.
About the Role
You will play a pivotal role in supporting QBuild's ambition to strengthen Queensland's building and construction industry by providing high level contract administration.
Responsibilities
* Know and apply the contractual obligations of all parties honestly and fairly.
* Provide operational contract supervisory services for construction and engineering contracts on major and complex projects, including:
o Undertaking regular site inspections
o Ensuring site meetings are held at regular intervals and conducted according to a standardised procedure
o Issuing Variation Orders
o Assessing contractual claims
o Processing Contractor's Requests for Information
o Ensuring the finished product complies with contract documentation
o Preparing defects lists
o Ensuring Building Act Compliance inspections are undertaken and records kept
* Provide expert advice to the Superintendent for dispute resolution processes in respect of building and engineering construction.
* Implement contract administration policies and procedures applicable to traditional contracts as identified by the Superintendent.
* Act in accordance with QBuild procedures and systems for contract administration and contractual provisions.
* Implement post‑contract performance evaluation systems and procedures to provide comprehensive and timely information required by the Pre‑Qualified Contractor Register.
* Communicate effectively with clients and all project team members regarding potential cost, time and quality issues.
* Participate in reviewing and improving the operational effectiveness of the Business Unit's Quality Assurance procedures as requested.
* Apply appropriate employment equity and workplace health and safety principles while performing duties.
* Act as a mentor and main point of contact for other Superintendent's Representatives, providing direction and management to support staff to enhance performance.
* Proactively manage the work performance and personal conduct of staff.
