About This Role

Utilise your policy expertise to provide support and advice to Courts Civil and Criminal Law.

Fixed, Full‐Time opportunity to work with a high‐performing and passionate team in the Victorian Public Service.

Salary and Benefits

VPS Grade 3: $79,122 - $96,073 plus superannuation.

About The Business Unit

The Department of Justice and Community Safety (DJCS) provides a range of government programs focused on improving community safety, victim services, regulatory services, crime prevention, and building strong collaboration across the justice system.

The Justice System Coordination and Reform (JSCR) group supports the Attorney‐General and DJCS ministers to deliver criminal and civil law, integrity and court services policy responsibilities by providing legal and policy expertise to DJCS and Justice Ministers, and working collaboratively with key entities across the justice system and the department.

The Courts and Justice System Reform (CJSR) business unit leads strategic court and justice system reform relevant to the Attorney‐General's First Law Officer responsibilities, including policy, strategic projects, legislation, judicial appointments, budget, sector support and development, and national agreements relating to legal assistance and key Attorney‐General entities across the justice system.

About The Role

The Policy Officer is responsible for contributing to the co‐ordination, research, development, implementation and review of the Project.

Duties Will Include

* Contributing to the development and implementation of the Project's outputs, including the proposed funding distribution model and outcomes‐focused performance monitoring framework.
* Researching, analysing, preparing and presenting high‐quality written materials such as clear and concise reports, briefings and presentations on matters relevant to the Project.
* Providing support for secretariat functions of the Project.
* Working as part of and promoting a high‐performing team, including by modelling a positive work culture that promotes the VPS values, supports innovation and respects diversity.

About You

* Strong writing and research skills with the ability to assist with the preparation of policy materials.
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to support secretariat and stakeholder engagement functions.
* Understanding, or ability to gain an understanding, of government grant management including reporting and stakeholder management.
* Experience with and/or knowledge of the Victorian justice system and/or the legal assistance sector would be advantageous.

Qualifications / Requirements

* A tertiary qualification in a related discipline would be highly desirable.
