We are currently looking for an Electronics Technician Leading Hand to join our QinetiQ Engineering and Technology Centre (QTEC), based in Port Melbourne.
Reporting to the Workshop Manager, the Electronic Technician Leading Hand will take responsibility for work performed by a small team including personnel supervision, quality assurance and overall task performance to meet deadlines.
As the Electronics Technician Leading Hand, you will be responsible for:
Managing a small team of technicians, including annual goal setting and the conduct of performance development reviews
Training and directing technicians in equipment use and advanced technical procedures
The ability to perform quality checks of products for release, including validation and verification activities and formal certification of quality checks
Directing technicians whilst demonstrating the ability to meet schedules and quality levels
Supporting the development of documentation including Work Orders, Work Instructions, SOPs and Risk Assessments
Ensuring the completion of tasks generated by the onsite Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRP) tool
Assembly of product systems and installing electrical and electronic systems in a range of equipment using 12v and 230v systems
Performing electronic diagnostics and fault finding
Provide input into new product development and installation guides
Provide input into operating and maintenance documentation
To be successful in the role of Electronics Technician Leading Hand you will need to bring with you:
Significant trade/supervisory experience
Superior attention to detail, with experience and analytic skill to assemble and troubleshoot complex systems
Ability to work in a changing environment both within a workshop environment and at a customer's site
Be willing to learn and adapt to new and varying products and equipment
Computer and IT literate proficient in Microsoft Office products
Have a proactive attitude towards management of safety, quality, security and project performance
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Experience interpreting wiring diagrams and engineering drawings essential
Working with CAD models and design tools (Preferred but not essential)
Defence experience (Preferred but not essential)
Can provide advice and guidance to professional engineers and designers, positively influencing designs and projects
