About the Business
My client are a very well regarded financial services firm dedicated to providing personalised and professional service to their clients. As a small business, they pride themselves on a supportive, hands-on, and energetic team culture. We are looking for an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Junior Accountant to join their tight-knit team and become an integral part of the daily operations and future growth.
The Role
Reporting directly to the CFO, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the financial health of the business. This position is perfect for someone who enjoys a varied workload and wants to gain broad exposure across all aspects of accounting.
Key Responsibilities will include:
* Accounts Payable and Receivable: Processing invoices, managing supplier payments, and following up on outstanding accounts.
* Bank and General Ledger Reconciliations: Performing timely and accurate reconciliations of bank accounts and key balance sheet accounts.
* Payroll Support: Assisting with the preparation and processing of fortnightly/monthly payroll, superannuation, and leave entitlements.
* Compliance: Preparing and lodging relevant statutory requirements such as BAS, IAS, and FBT returns.
* Month-End Support: Assisting with month-end closing procedures, including journal entries and balance sheet schedules.
* Financial Reporting: Preparing basic reports and assisting with budget analysis as required by management.
About You
You are a proactive, organised, and trustworthy individual with a strong commitment to accuracy. You love learning and are ready to take the next step in your accounting career within a collaborative small business setting.
Essential Skills & Experience:
* Relevant Qualification: Degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent, ideally studying towards your CA/CPA.
* Experience: 2-4 years' experience in a similar Assistant Accountant or Bookkeeping role.
* Attention to Detail: Exceptional accuracy and a methodical approach to tasks.
* Willingness to Learn: A strong desire to learn new accounting skills and best practices.
* Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to interact professionally with staff and suppliers.
* Work Ethic: A 'can-do' attitude and the ability to work independently and manage deadlines effectively.
