Council has an exciting 12-month opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic Trainee to join our Corporate Services directorate as a Governance Administration Trainee, commencing February 2026.
This position is ideal for individuals looking to gain a formal qualification and practical experience in a professional Council setting.

Your Role:
You will provide essential administrative support to the Governance and Administration Services team. Key tasks include:
* Managing and maintaining records.
* Handling incoming phone calls.
* Utilising computer systems and Council specific software to support daily operations.
* Provide support in the planning and coordination of corporate meetings, including catering logistics.
This traineeship is funded through the Skilling Queenslanders for Work Initiative – First Start Program, which aims to provide young people and disadvantaged Queensland job seekers with 12 months of valuable, on-the-job experience. Continued employment beyond the 12-month contract is not guaranteed.
To be eligible, you must be:
* aged 15 years or older and no longer at school; and
* able to meet citizen, residency and visa requirements to undertake an apprenticeship.
In addition to the above, to be eligible you must be able to identify with at least one of the following:
* a young person (aged 15-24 years), including those in and transitioned from out-of-home care;
* a long-term unemployed job seeker;
* a mature-age job seeker (aged 45 years or older);
* an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person;
* a migrant or refuge from a culturally and linguistically diverse background;
* a person with a disability;
* a displaced worker (retrenched or redundant);
* a woman re-entering the workforce;
