The New Acland Coal Mine (NAC), a thin seam open cut mining operation is owned and managed by New Hope Group. NAC based in Acland, 35km north-west of Toowoomba, has played a key role in the Darling Downs region as an employer and economic contributor since it began operation in October 2002.

About The Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic Senior Accountant to join our Commercial department on a permanent full-time basis. Working Monday to Friday and reporting to the Commercial Manager, the Senior Accountant will partner with various departments, delivering financial reporting and cost analysis to drive operational performance and strategy.
What You Will Do
Lead the site accounting function, including its people, systems and service deliveryProvide effective finance business partnering support to operational stakeholders to enable informed decision-makingPrepare periodic management accounts, reports and analysisEnsure timely and accurate provision of information for site financial statements and New Hope Group reportingDevelop and maintain systems and processes to ensure accurate data is captured for analysis and reportingManage the forecasting and budgeting process, including analysis and reportingSupport the site expenditure board and cost management initiatives
To Be Considered For This Opportunity You Will Bring
Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or BusinessCPA/CA or similar accreditation preferred, not essentialAccounting experience in heavy industry sectors will be highly regardedSignificant experience with budgeting and forecasting, including financial analysis and performance reportingStrong understanding of accounting processes and systems, as well as using technology to improve efficiency and controlsStrong analytical skills with the ability to analyse and interpret financial results and identify trendsStrong interpersonal skills with a positive, solution-focused approachAbility to lead strategic conversations and positively influence decision-makingAbility to work as part of a team in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
