The National Centre for Vocational Education Research (NCVER) helps promote better understanding and discussion within the vocational education and training sector (VET), and assists policy makers, practitioners, industry, training providers, and students to make informed decisions.
NCVER is a professional and independent body that is responsible for collecting, managing, analysing, evaluating, and communicating research and statistics about VET and the links between education and the labour market more generally.
We are looking for a Data Analyst to join NCVER’s Product and Data division. As a Data Analyst at NCVER, you will be responsible for undertaking data analysis, research, reporting and the preparation of publications, reports and data products.
You’ll undertake data requests from internal and external stakeholders and provide technical assistance using data from NCVER's National administrative collections and surveys. You will provide active input into quality assurance and continuous improvement activities as well as provide input and advice to others to build NCVER’s research and statistical capability.
Key Responsibilities and Requirements
The successful candidate will require the following skills and experience:
- Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience
- Applied skills in querying, analysing, manipulating and interpreting large and complex datasets (SAS, Python or SQL preferred, other languages considered)
- An analytical mindset with a curiosity to ask questions and solve problems
- Proven experience working with complex data assets
- A degree in a numerate discipline such as Statistics, Mathematics, Social Sciences, Actuarial Studies
The following skills and experience are not essential, but highly desirable:
- Experience analysing survey data
- Experience in the Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector
What We Offer
Fixed-term role based in Adelaide until June 2026, full-time or part-time working hours (0.8) are negotiable, hybrid working from office/home arrangement, generous, flexible working conditions, gifted leave over Christmas shut down, and full-time equivalent salary will be in the range of $85,000 - $94,000 (plus 12% superannuation) commensurate with skills and experience.
