Our Somersby Workshop is the central manufacturing and engineering hub that manufactures worldclass automation equipment and structural steel. It encompasses state of the art modern machinery including 3D Tubelaser, Vortmann Beamline, Plasma Processing Machines, 12 Kilowatt Bystronic Laser, pressing and rolling capabilities up to 50mm plate and a CNC Machine Shop from 5 Axis Machines, wire cutting and manual lathes. All these machines are incorporated in Truck Body Building, Structural Fabrication & Surface Coating, Sheetmetal, Mechanical Automation & Fabrication departments.

As a result of our ongoing growth and success, Crossmuller is seeking an
experienced Manufacturing Manager
to motivate and lead our team of 90+ employees with 4 direct reports. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the primary objective is to provide site leadership of the manufacturing, production and maintenance teams to ensure safe, efficient and cost effective quality production outcomes. We are looking for a strong leader with relevant large scale manufacturing experience.
Key responsibilities will include:
Coordinating all activities across the site to achieve business objectives, including addressing barriers to performance through problem solving, actioning and following up
Managing all workshop projects for Crossmuller Engineering and Workshops throughout the country.
Establishing, leading and maintaining a culture of team work, engagement, accountability and performance improvement
Preparing and coordinating production plans and schedules based on business requirements, plant capacity and inventory levels
Monitoring expenditure and forward planning of plant requirements for existing and future projects in terms of output quality and labour requirements
Controlling staff selection, training and development. Evaluating the performance and the efficiency of staff procedures
Ensuring maintenance programmes align with production schedules
Developing systems to assist in quality control, production costs and raw material inventories
Overseeing raw material forecasts and orders to ensure timely and efficient supply of product to meet production requirements
Ensuring adherence to industry product certification standards
Ensuring effective communication across the site and with the wider organisation
Participating in Sales and Operations Planning practices to ensure the site is aligned to the business needs
Participating in projects relating to site expansion, as required
Developing strong relationships with customers and suppliers
To be considered for this role you will have:
10+ years site operational management experience
Experience in continuous manufacturing processes
Strong leadership skills
Experience in Lean Manufacturing Production
Experience in managing others, including large teams
Experience in strategic planning
Demonstrated technical / specialist knowledge
Knowledge of raw material acquisition
Solid negotiation skills
Demonstrated planning and performance management skills
Knowledge of WHS & HR legislation
