EON Aboriginal Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to improving the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal people in remote communities across the Northern Territory and Western Australia. We deliver programs focused on health, nutrition, education, and training, using edible gardens as a tool to shift community attitudes toward healthy living.

Job Opportunity: Operations Manager (Western Australia)

We are seeking an Operations Manager who has extensive experience working with remote Aboriginal communities, understands the cultural and practical context of delivering programs in these environments, and has a strong interest or experience in health, nutrition, and gardening/horticulture. The role will be based in Subiaco, with applications from the Kimberley welcomed. Regular travel across WA (and occasionally the NT) is required – averaging two trips per month for several days.

Key Responsibilities

- Oversee planning, delivery, and evaluation of EON’s established program in remote WA communities.
- Lead, mentor, and support a small, geographically dispersed and diverse delivery team.
- Work closely with NT operational staff to maintain consistency and support across delivery.
- Build and maintain strong collaborative relationships with school principals, teachers, community leaders, and local partners.
- Collaborate with the CEO and senior managers to ensure program delivery is aligned with EON’s goals and values.
- Help map future growth and assess potential new communities for program expansion.
- Manage program budgets, ensuring alignment with funding agreements.
- Provide clear reporting and communication to the EON team and stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain partnerships with funders and strategic partners to support program sustainability.
- Help deliver the program on the ground as required.

The ideal candidate will bring

- Robust people management skills with at least five years of experience in a management role, including experience managing remote teams.
- Experience working in remote and regional Aboriginal communities, with a deep understanding and respect for Aboriginal culture.
- Good knowledge of remote and regional Western Australia, including local networks, communities, and key stakeholders.
- Passion and experience in health, nutrition, cooking, and gardening.
- Adaptability and solutions-focus, with the ability to work through challenges in remote and cross-cultural settings.
- Able to build strong, trusting relationships through honest communication and follow-through.
- Willing and able to travel frequently to remote communities, twice per month for most of the year.
- Experience managing budgets, writing reports, and overseeing multiple projects.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 and other relevant software.
- Background in Education or Health is highly regarded.
