About the Role
We're looking for a hands on Junior Machine Learning & Computer Vision Engineer to join our engineering team. You'll be working on real world computer vision challenges, from curating datasets to training and deploying models that power defence technology applications.
What You'll Be Doing
* Curating, cleaning, and annotating datasets for training computer vision models
* Training, evaluating, and optimising machine learning models for object detection, classification, and related tasks
* Implementing and refining computer vision pipelines for image and video processing
* Benchmarking model performance and iterating on improvements
* Collaborating with the engineering team to integrate ML solutions into broader systems
* Staying current with developments in ML and computer vision research
What We're Looking For
* Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)
* Foundational understanding of machine learning concepts and neural network architectures
* Minimum 1 year of experience with Python and ML frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow
* Familiarity with computer vision libraries (OpenCV, torchvision, or similar)
* Ability to work methodically through data preparation and model experimentation
* Strong attention to detail and problem solving skills
* Reliable team player with good communication skills
* Australian citizenship required for this position
Desirable but Not Essential
* Experience with object detection architectures (YOLO, Faster RCNN, etc.)
* Familiarity with model deployment and optimisation techniques
* Understanding of image processing fundamentals
* Experience with version control (Git) and collaborative development workflows
