Job Description:
L3Harris is seeking a Specialist, Network Planning Engineer to join our IP Network Management Systems (NMS) Tier 3 Engineering team. This role is focused on supporting and maintaining our diverse application stack within the network management domain to ensure operational excellence. Candidates should be proficient at executing and documenting procedures, proactive in suggesting process improvements, and eager to learn and grow in their role.
1. This is a (100%) on-site position at L3Harris offices located in Melbourne, Florida and cannot be accomplished remotely
2. This position may require weekend, after-hours support, and on-call rotations to meet program requirements.
3. This position requires the ability to obtain FAA Public Trust Suitability.
Essential Functions:
4. Updating, troubleshooting, and enhancing OSS COTS solutions such as ServiceNow, CA/Broadcom Spectrum, CA NFA, Splunk, OwnCloud, etc.
5. Designing and implementing new enterprise systems to meet emerging program requirements.
6. Strong ability to step through complex problems and troubleshoot through to resolution.
7. Scheduling and executing maintenance requests for proactive engineering projects and break fix scenarios.
8. Interacting directly with vendors for issue resolution.
9. Monitoring, analyzing and troubleshooting daily status of the health of infrastructure and services within an operations center utilizing management and monitoring tools.
10. Support on-call responsibilities and work after-hours as required.
11. Ability to impart knowledge and train others.
Qualifications:
12. Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.
13. Experience in two or more of the following domains:
* Network monitoring protocols/methods such as SNMP, NetFlow, and Syslog.
* Implementation/Administration of one or more Network Management Systems (Splunk, CA/Broadcom Product Suite, BMC Remedy, IPAM, Infoblox, ownCloud).
* Networking principles and systems functionality, with the ability to troubleshoot OSI layers 1-7 throughout a COTS environment.
* Linux OS (RHEL/CentOS) and Microsoft Windows OS.
Preferred Additional Skills:
• Experience adhering to deadlines and complete tasks on-schedule.
• Work well in a diverse team environment and with customers.
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize projects according to business needs.
• Knowledge of Web Services APIs, Perl/Python scripting, Bash, Ansible.
• Experience with Agile software development and the systems engineering lifecycle.
