Aboriginal Child Protection Specialist Role
This position plays a critical role in the community, working sensitively and respectfully with families to ensure the safety and well-being of children.
* Build positive relationships with parents, family members, children or young people, tailoring support to meet their unique needs.
* Work collaboratively with other agencies, engaging in complex problem-solving to address challenging situations.
* Assist families in identifying and addressing safety concerns, providing targeted assistance through home visits.
* Develop comprehensive safety plans and conduct thorough risk assessments to ensure effective intervention.
As an Aboriginal Child Protection Specialist, you will be part of a dedicated team committed to making a positive impact on the lives of vulnerable children and families. This role requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage cases and situations involving high-needs and high-risk clients and their families.
* Participate in court processes, preparing documents and attending proceedings as required.
* Contribute to individual and group supervision sessions, sharing expertise and learning from colleagues.
Essential Requirements:
* A relevant diploma or degree qualification is highly desirable.
* Applicants without formal qualifications require at least two years' experience working with vulnerable children, young people, and their families.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build strong working relationships.
* A valid driver's license and current paid Working with Children clearance number.
* Documented verification of Aboriginality, confirming your identity as an Aboriginal person of Aboriginal descent.
