*The Role
An opportunity has become available for a Carer Peer Worker (Identified Lived Experience - Head to Health Kids) to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our strong team is on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia.
You will
Provide carer peer support, practical assistance, education, information and referrals to carers, families and significant others
Form effective and empathetic peer relationships with people accessing carer peer support services, appropriately sharing personal lived experience
Support the planning, facilitation and evaluation of carer peer support groups, educational programs and other activities that foster social inclusion, family recovery and long-term wellbeing
Advocate for the inclusion of carer and family perspectives and input into care and recovery plans working alongside multidisciplinary teams
About you
To be successful in this position you will require:
While not mandatory, a Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work (Carer Elective chosen) or the applicant demonstrating that they are working towards the same would be well regarded
Previous experience working within a public mental health service or the community sector as a Carer Peer Worker is desirable
Blue card / Working with children check (GCH will cover cost)
Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against and remain vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Hepatitis B
Tuberculosis screening, to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required
Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed
Criminal History Screening will be required for new employees (GCH will cover cost)

Gold Coast Child and Youth Mental Health Services (CYMHS) is a part of the Mental Health and Specialist Services (MHSS) Division. The CYMHS Head to Health Hub Kids-Queensland (H2HK-Q) is a multi-disciplinary, multi-specialty service within the Gold Coast Child and Youth Mental Health Services that delivers child centred and family focused services driven by a strengths focused culture in line with the Whole Child Approach. H2HK-Q will provide a seamless service for children aged 0-12 experiencing mental health difficulties that effectively integrates primary, secondary, and tertiary services by working in partnership across all sectors.
