Reliability Engineering Specialist
This role involves working in a residential environment, based in Townsville, with direct reporting to the Superintendent Refinery Maintenance.
Key Responsibilities:
* Coordination and completion of vibration analysis, oil analysis, thermography, UT, and other condition monitoring techniques to ensure optimal equipment performance.
* Manage contractors for third-party crane, pressure equipment, and statutory inspections to maintain compliance and safety standards.
* Conduct root cause analysis on equipment failures to identify areas for improvement and prevent future occurrences.
* Provide timely reports and expert advice to key stakeholders on suitable courses of action and monitoring implementation plans to minimize downtime and maximize productivity.
* Develop diagnostic tools to predict equipment failures and minimize their impact on production.
* Offer technical support to the maintenance and operational teams to ensure smooth operations and address any technical issues that may arise.
* Provide specialist support to the maintenance team and lead improvements in lubrication systems to optimize equipment performance and reduce maintenance costs.
* Ensure hazards within the maintenance workplace and processing plants are identified and addressed to maintain a safe working environment.
* Raise notifications for corrective work or inspections in the CMMS (SAP) to ensure timely completion and adherence to safety protocols.
* Coordinate support for QA/QC checks for critical equipment to ensure quality and reliability.
* Lead improvements in condition monitoring across the copper refineries to enhance overall performance and efficiency.
Requirements:
* A minimum of 5 years' experience in mining, heavy industries, or petro-chemical plants is required.
* A Bachelor of Engineering - Mechanical or Electrical preferred, or tertiary education in Asset Management/Reliability is essential.
* Previous experience in condition monitoring and lubrication is necessary.
* Good communication skills with the ability to work in a team environment are crucial.
* A C-Class Driver's License is mandatory.
* Minimum VCAT1 certification is preferable.
* Previous use of safety and risk assessment tools such as Job Hazard Analysis and Take 5's is beneficial.
* Project management experience will be highly regarded, particularly in managing budgets and schedules.
* Experience engaging and presenting to internal stakeholders as well as managing outside contractors is valuable.
* Working within a team environment but also demonstrating the ability to work autonomously is essential.
* A strong safety culture and work ethic are fundamental to success in this role.
