What you'll be doing
Two positions ( FTE, FTE) are clinically focused. One further position ( FTE) has an academic (research and education) focus but trainees in this position will also have clinical duties. Please refer to position descriptions
• Clinical assessment and formulation of management plans for patients presenting to the Western Sydney Sexual Health Centre (WSSHC), including collecting a sexual (and other risk) history, conducting an appropriate ano-genital examination with informed consent and collecting and handling specimens for STI diagnosis.
• Effective communication with the patient and other relevant healthcare professionals and team members.
• Appropriate patient counselling and education.
• Acquiring knowledge and skills in public health, HIV medicine, viral Hepatitis, men’s and women’s’ Sexual Health and Reproductive Health.
• Effective communication with referring healthcare professionals.
• Participation in quality assurance, educational programs and appropriate research projects.
• Other duties at the direction of the WSSHC Director.
The Training Program
This position is accredited for both Advanced Training in Sexual Health Medicine (Australasian Chapter of Sexual Health Medicine, Royal Australasian College of Physicians) and General Practice Training (Royal Australian College of General Practitioners). It may be also suitable to meet requirements towards other training programs subject to accreditation/application to the relevant colleges/faculties/chapters.
Training Opportunities
Acquiring in-depth knowledge and skills in the assessment and management of sexually transmitted infections, public health, HIV medicine, viral hepatitis, men’s and women’s Sexual Health and reproductive health. Developing skills as a researcher, educator and multidisciplinary team member. Western Sydney Sexual Health Centre has an active academic unit and strong links to educational programs and research at the University of Sydney.

Supervision Arrangements
• A WSSHC Staff Specialist will be an educational supervisor for the trainee, providing one-to-one educational supervision and mentorship throughout the year.
• The trainee will at all times have a senior doctor available.
• Supervision is provided for day to day operational matters, professional development and learning and to co-coordinate patient care and follow up as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
