As the Cyber Architect Associate Manager, your primary responsibility will be to plan System Security design activities to achieve Commonwealth security objectives. You will define security architectures and oversee design, implementation, test, and integration across incremental capability deliveries.
As a functional manager you will provide effective leadership, development, and oversight of our cyber capability. You will guide and support our people, ensure strong governance across cyber activities, and advocate for the needs of both teams and individuals.
The Cyber Engineering Function is a small but growing capability of approximately 30 roles across multiple locations in Australia. This position acts as the local Functional point of contact for a team of around 10–15 people at the site.

Your Responsibilities
* Provide broad based experience in systems engineering lifecycle and apply experience to specific Cyber Security architectural design and development initiatives
* Apply Cyber Security standards, directives, guidance and policies to an architectural framework
* Review security architectures and technical solution designs
* Support functional leadership by tailoring Cyber Engineering and cyber policies/processes to local needs, and identifying and reporting issues affecting cyber professionals
* Drive functional capability development initiatives and support functional governance across local projects and bids
* Facilitate clear two-way communication and feedback between staff and the broader Cyber Engineering function
* Foster a positive and effective workplace culture that values both individual and team contributions
* Mentor and guide individuals to help them reach their potential and maximise their impact on business outcomes
* Oversee key people processes including inductions, probation reviews, and performance management activities
About you:
* Advanced understanding of cyber security controls, including enhanced controls required to meet the most stringent Defence cyber standards
* Significant experience in systems security engineering e.g. interpreting security requirements, analysing and recommending security measures and policies
* Experience in and thorough understanding of the Australian Government security Assessment and Authorisation (A&A) process
* Significant experience supporting and developing individuals and teams to achieve high-quality outcomes
* Strong leadership and mentoring capability, with a demonstrated ability to drive innovation, uplift capability, and lead organisational change
* Deep understanding of cyber policies, standards, and engineering best practice, with the ability to apply and tailor them effectively
* Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships at all levels
